Google is hosting a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) app that uses facial recognition to identify immigrants. The app tells local cops whether to contact ICE about the person – essentially putting people directly in the crosshairs of deportation. Meanwhile, Google has removed apps and tools built by activists and advocates to alert neighborhoods when ICE agents are nearby, protecting families from sudden raids. Google has chosen a side: they’re helping Trump’s mass deportation machine while erasing the tools that would help immigrants stay safe and informed. We even noticed a warning about Heather Cox Richardson's email newsletter.

SB287 took effect on September 30th, 2025 and imposes new hurdles on the absentee voting process. To ensure that as many voters as possible will be able to access their absentee ballots, more notaries are needed. The cost to become a notary is $75 and once commissioned, you would be placed on a call list and notified when a notary is needed in your area. Learn more about Open Democracy Action's notary volunteer program.
